YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO PLAY IN THIS LEAGUE SINCE THE MAIN SPONSOR IS BAREFOOT WINE.
Divisions: 2's Men's and 2's Women's -- $45 per person total cost for the league, which equates to less than $8 a week of play
When and Where: The league will be on Sunday nights at Victory Lane. We are planning on a 5PM-6:30PM session, and a 6:30PM - 8PM session, flip-flopping each week. Very similar to the structure in the SRP leagues, you will play 3 GAMES to 25 pts against 3 different teams each week. This will run from Sunday May 31 - Sunday June 28th. We will have a bye on Sunday July 5th for the holiday weekend, then we will have a one night tournament final for the top 8 teams in each division on Sunday July 19th that will determine who will win the trip to San Francisco.
No shows hurt your ranking, no we recommend to all to find subs when you cannot attend. Subs are allowed so long as the main 2 players compete in over 50% of the league play and must play on the tournament finals night together.
The Prizes: $1000 in prize money will be awarded to the Women's teams, and $1000 to the Men's teams. $500 of each goes the best finishers in league play, and another $500 to the best finishers in the tournament.
Men's and Women's: 1st Place in League Play - $200 2nd Place in League Play - $140 3rd Place in League Play (2 teams) - $80 each
1st Place in Tournament - $200 + New AVP Balls (Special Barefoot Edition) 2nd Place in Tournament - $140 + New AVP Balls (Special Barefoot Edition) 3rd Place in Tournament (2 teams) - $80 + New AVP Balls (Special Barefoot Edition)
Overall Winner of Each - Paid Trip to San Francisco AVP and chance for more cash and AVP MAIN DRAW SPOT!
The teams' finish in league play is added to their finish in the tournament x 2 (tournament is double-weighted) and divided by three producing an overall finish, of which the best overall finish in both will be considered the overall winner and receive the trip to San Francisco, the value of which is thousands of dollars but can be considered priceless if it leads to competing in the San Francisco Main Draw of the AVP. How cool is that?
IN ORDER TO PLAY IN AZBVA TOURNAMENTS & LEAGUES YOU HAVE TO OBTAIN THE 2009 AVPNext MEMBERSHIP!!! We can get you one at the tournament but it is $5 more than doing it online.
*** Don't sign up unless you will be there. One of our FAQ's is what happens to teams that are no-shows on tournament day? Answer: Since we cannot count on them being there, they are automatically bumped to the Wait List any time they are registered for a full tournament until they have proven their attendance again at multiple future tourneys and apologized and brought us coffee. With the limited court space and very high probability that every tourney through May will be a sell-out it DEFINITELY is in your best interest to stay off the Naughty No-Show List.
Men's/Women's Open is the highest level of play, A division next, and B is Novice level. For the sake of more games for the players, we combine the A and B divisions for pool play, but split them into their own divisions for playoffs after pool play.
